Program Awards 

and Accomplishments

  • Scholar LETHA MOORE won the 2000 Phi Delta Kappa International Excellence in Student Teaching Award.
  • Scholar JANNIS GLOVER won 1998 Sallie Mae First Class Teacher for Chatham County.
  • Scholar W. J. STEWART won 1998 Support Person of the Year for Chatham County.
  • Sixteen Scholars have won their school's nomination for Sallie Mae First Class Teacher Award.
  • Two male Scholars have been nominated for their school's Teacher of the Year Award.
  • Under a grant from Breadloaf School of English JANNIS GLOVER studied in Oxford, England, and earned a Masters of Arts Degree from Lincoln College Oxford.
  • Four Scholars teach at one of the local universities (Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah State University, or South University).
  • Twenty two (30%) Scholars have earned master of education degrees; four are pursuing a doctorate.
  • Seven Scholars have earned certification to mentor student teachers.
  • Seven Scholars have earned the statewide Georgia Reading Endorsement.
  • Twenty-six (37%) Scholars have earned InTech (Computer) Certification.
