GACE Content Assessments/PRAXIS II
GACE – Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators
The purpose of this test is to assess the knowledge and skills of prospective Georgia public school educators. THE GACE are aligned with state and national standards for educator preparation and with state standards for P-12 student curriculum (Georgia Performance Standards).
Praxis testing in Georgia has been discontinued. An exception to this new testing plan is the field of Speech and Language Pathology. Georgia will continue to accept Praxis (ASHA Exam) scores for candidates in this field. Two other exceptions are Educational Leadership and Latin. GACE assessments in these two fields will be deferred until Fall 2007, and the PSC will continue to accept passing Praxis scores for these two assessments through the end of August 2007. Additionally there is a special implementation schedule for the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment. The GACE Paraprofessional Assessment will become available November 2006; however, the PSC will still accept passing scores on the ETS ParaPro Assessment until March 1, 2007.
